How To Avoid Scam Investment Apps in Nigeria - 5 Red Flags Every Small Investor Must Know

Good morning Investors, Welcome to Day 17 of my journey from $1 to 100 Shares. I started this journey with just $1 in my Bamboo wallet, which was about N1,500, to prove that ordinary Nigerians can start investing with small money. Today my portfolio is Transcorp 50 units and I am preparing to apply for 10 units of Dangote Refinery IPO. But today I want to pause the portfolio update and share something more important that almost made me quit last month. I almost lost N10,000 to a fake investment app I saw on Telegram. The app promised to turn my N5,000 to N15,000 in 3 days. The Telegram group had 14,000 members, many fake testimonies, and the admin was always posting Opay receipts. I was lucky, I asked a friend in my WhatsApp investment group before I paid. Today, with Dangote Refinery IPO extension to Oct 27 and many people looking for where to invest, scammers are increasing on Facebook, Telegram, WhatsApp and even TikTok. That is why today we will learn how to avoid scam investment a...

Dangote Refinery IPO has been extended. The new closing date is now October 27, 2026.

If you were rushing to buy before October 13, you now have 14 extra days. I confirmed this from the official IPO website and Punch Newspaper this morning. Dangote Refinery IPO New Closing Date According to the official offer website, the IPO which opened on September 14 will now close on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The extension was approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The old deadline was October 13, 2026. Key Details of the Offer Remains Same: - Price: N525 per share - Minimum: 10 shares (N5,250) - Total Shares: 4.1 billion shares - Total Value: N2.15 trillion - Offer Period: Sept 14 - Oct 27, 2026 Why Did Dangote Extend The IPO? This is what shocked me. Aliko Dangote said in an interview at the refinery that they have already gotten 3 to 4 times the amount they wanted to raise. He said the extension is not about raising more money, but about giving more Africans a chance to own part of the refinery. The company is now working with Nairobi Securities Exchange and ...

Image
Introduction: If you have been following my 100 Shares Challenge, you know I mostly buy bank shares. But this week, many people in my WhatsApp group asked about Transcorp. How To Invest Your POS Business Profit Into Shares (Nigeria Guide 2026)

If you are doing POS business in Nigeria, you can turn your daily small profit into big shares investment. Here is how I am doing it. Step 1: Separate Your Profit Don't mix customer money with your profit. For example, if you make N3,000 daily profit = N90,000 monthly.   50% for family and shop = N45,000   20% for emergency float = N18,000   30% for shares investment = N27,000 Step 2: Open a Shares Account Download Bamboo, Trove, or Chaka app on your phone. You can start with just N5,000. Step 3: What Shares Should POS Owners Buy? Buy what you understand:   strong Bank Shares:strong GTCO, Zenith Bank, UBA - They pay dividend every year.   strong Consumer Goods: strong  Dangote Sugar, BUA Foods, Nestle - People must eat every day.    strong ETF: strong  If you don't know what to pick, buy Stanbic ETF 30. Step 4: My Simple Rule Every Friday, I use my Week 3 and Week 4 profit to buy shares. Even 1 unit is okay. Consistency is key. strong IMPORTA...

DAY 13 of my ₦10k challenge. I started with ₦10,000 exactly 2 weeks ago. People said "₦10k too small to invest". Here's what happened. What I bought with ₦10k: 1. Day 5 - My ₦52,500 So Far: Profit or Loss? An Honest Update

Day 5 of my 100 Shares Challenge. Everyone keeps asking me, "How much have you made so far?" The honest answer is, I have not sold any shares yet. My 100 shares are still in the market. The price moves up and down every day. Some days it is green, some days it is red. That is normal in the stock market. On Day 2, I made a mistake. I almost sold when the price dropped slightly. If I had sold that day, I would have lost about ₦3,000. What I learned from that is simple: Investing is not a get-rich-quick scheme. Patience is what pays in the long run. My plan has not changed. I will hold these 100 shares for the long term and continue to add more gradually. You can start your own journey with as little as ₦5,250 or ₦10,500.
